With warmer weather approaching, it’s time to switch out the bulky sweaters for summer shorts

Changing out your wardrobe and storing away winter clothes can give you a refreshing new start for spring!

Breathe new life into your closet by following these steps to stay ahead of the game:

Sort Your Non-Seasonal Pieces
Pull out anything that may be made of heavier fabrics. You probably won’t be wearing that wool sweater in June. Take them off of hangers, if applicable, and make a pile of all of these items.
Take Inventory And Declutter
Before storing away your winter items, take stock of what you have.  Consider donating items you never wore this past season.  If you didn’t wear them this year, chances are you probably won’t wear them next year either.  If it doesn’t excite you, maybe it’s time to pass it along.

Store the items you do want to keep in sturdy plastic bins with secure lids that you can reuse for multiple seasons. We recommend clear bins, to take the guess work out of finding things in the future.

As you might not want to use moth balls for your sweaters, some good tips are: 1) Launder all clothes before storing to sanitize the fabrics, 2) use cedar boards in the bins and storage area, 3) Lavender sachets can act as moth deterrent; include them in with your folded clothes.
Organize This Season’s Wardrobe
Now that you’ve cleaned out the closet, place the spring and summer items back in, with thought!  Before you put it on a hanger, consider if you will really wear that item (or if you have 50 duplicates that can be pared down), if it still fits, or if it might be something that should be donated.

**Organize items to keep by garment type (i.e. shorts go together, tank tops go together, etc.)…..
**Go one step further and organize each category by color.

Have fun with it!
